Students will demonstrate their understanding of the theatrical auditioning process by preparing for an in-class audition.

Advanced Theatre

 

Prior Experience:

Prior to this unit, students should be competent in analyzing dramatic texts and applying acting techniques to accurately and publicly portray a character.

Lesson Outlines:

Lesson 1: Finding an Audition

Educational Objective: Students will demonstrate their ability to find and select appropriate auditions by selecting a faux audition opportunity.

 

Lesson 2: Selecting a Piece

Educational Objective: Students will demonstrate their ability to match an appropriate audition piece to a show by choosing audition pieces for their faux audition opportunities.

 

Lesson 3: How to Present Oneself at an Audition

Educational Objective: Students will demonstrate their understanding of audition protocol and etiquette by preparing how to present themselves in an audition.

 

Lesson 4: Headshots and Resumes

Educational Objective: Students will demonstrate their ability to present themselves by creating a resume and a headshot.

 

Lesson 5: Be Our Guest

Educational Objective: Students will demonstrate their understanding of real-life auditions by working with a working actor.

 

Lesson 6: Just Do It

Educational Objective: Students will demonstrate their understanding of an audition by auditioning in front of classmates and a panel of people experienced in the theatrical business.
