Students will demonstrate their ability to perform and direct by presenting their own Children’s Theatre performance to actual children in close-by elementary schools. (Teachers will need to set up performances – see “Scheduling Performances” handout for teachers only)
MATERIALS NEEDED:
Performance schedule for each student
All signed parent forms for driving students
HOOK:
As students come into class, make sure everyone is dressed in white tops and jean bottoms. Each time they perform it is worth 25 points to be in costume. If students are not in costume, they will have to wear something from the costume closet (which could be scary!)
STEP ONE:
Call role. Make sure all drivers have address to the school where we will be performing.
STEP TWO:
Send students to designated cars. Call school to let them know we are on our way.
STEP THREE:
Arrive at the school. Arrange stage/acting area.
STEP FOUR:
Perform
STEP FIVE:
Return to school
CLOSURE:
Make sure every one has returned safely.
ASSESSMENT:
Students can be assessed by their performance quality as they present the show to elementary students. Students could also prepare an “invited audience” performance for their friends and family that is separate from the elementary school performances.
