Students will demonstrate their knowledge of the Six Elements of Drama by analyzing a film.
Materials Needed
• Assessment Film (linear story-line with strong themes, with good examples of the other elements. Ex. What’s Up Doc!) • Assessment worksheet Film Analysis Worksheet.Lesson 7
Lesson Directions
Anticipatory Set/Hook At the beginning of class, play the plot structure game (see STEP 3 from “Plot Lesson Plan”). Quickly review the names and dominant points of each element.
Instruction
STEP 1: Pass out the assessment worksheet. Answer any questions.
STEP 2: Play the assessment film. Encourage the students to take notes and begin filling out the assessment worksheet during class. The worksheet will be due at the beginning of the next class period. Students, on their honor, must complete the work on their own. Watching the film will take the remainder of time in class.
