Unit Objective:

Students will demonstrate their understanding of Brechtian theatre techniques by creating and presenting a concept for a play they could direct in a Brechtian style.

Lessons:

Lesson 1: Intro to Brechtian Theatre

Objective: Students will demonstrate an understanding of basic Brechtian theatre techniques by beginning to create a Brechtian staging of a children’s story.

 

Lesson 2: More About Brecht

Objective: Students will demonstrate an understanding of basic Brechtian theatre techniques by creating a Brechtian staging of a children’s story.

 

Lesson 3: Brecht Examples

Objective: Students will demonstrate an understanding of basic Brechtian theatre techniques watching and responding to clips from Brechtian theatre.

 

Lesson 4: Applying Brecht Theory & Pitch Presentations

Objective: Students will demonstrate an understanding of Brechtian theatre techniques in performance by preparing a pitch presentation for a play in the Brechtian style.
