play Telephone a few times:<\/p>\n
Students sit in a circle. One student whispers a sentence in the ear of the
\nstudent sitting next to him. This student whispers it to the next student and
\nso on until the sentence has gone the whole way around the circle. Ask the
\nstudent at the end to repeat the sentence out loud.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\nTransition\/Discussion \u2013 Why was the sentence different from the sentence that
\nstarted this round? What could we do to fix this communication problem?<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\nInstruction \u2013 articulation tools (taking notes in journal):<\/p>\n
\nAsk students what they think helps them articulate? (refer to Theatre Arts in
\nAction textbook pg. 32-33) lips, teeth, tongue, jaw
\nHave students repeat together, \u201cThe lips, the teeth, the tip of the tongue, the
\narticulatory tools.\u201d
\nDescribe how you use these tools to articulate.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\nDiscussion \u2013 Ask students to share good or bad examples they have witnessed.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\nModel \u2013 tongue twister from handout.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\nGroup Practice \u2013 Divide students into groups of two. One student prepares to
\npresent a bad example and one student prepares to present a good example. Students may choose their own tongue twister or one from the handout.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\nIndividually \u2013 Choose a tongue twister to perform. Perform this tongue twister
\nusing 2 different character voices by using vocal variations and add projection. Have students present these in the auditorium.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\nCloser \u2013 Ask students what they learned, where they might use these
\ntools, who outside this classroom they think should use these tools. Have them record these ideas in their journals.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
