Lesson 5:<\/strong> Vocality<\/p>\n

Objective:<\/strong> Students will be able to demonstrate their ability to use effective voice by making vocal annotations and passing off their memorization.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Materials:<\/strong> None.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Preparation:<\/strong> None.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Starter: Write on the board, \u201cWhat is unique about how your character uses their voice?\u201d<\/p>\n

Allow students to answer. Ask for volunteers!<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Activity 1:<\/strong> Acting someone else\u2019s words!<\/p>\n

Step 1: Have the students all annotate the following on a small piece of paper:<\/p>\n

\u201cYou won\u2019t let you hair down even for a minute\u201d<\/p>\n

Love, hate, anger, annoyance, disgust, sympathy<\/p>\n

The only rule is that you cannot write down the emotion you are trying to portray in your annotation.<\/p>\n

Step 2: Now, have the students switch their annotated line with someone else\u2019s. On three, we are all going to try to say it at the same time.<\/p>\n

Step 3: Switch again!<\/p>\n
