{"id":4923,"date":"2016-03-23T17:09:30","date_gmt":"2016-03-23T17:09:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tedb-old.byu.edu\/?page_id=4923"},"modified":"2016-03-23T17:09:30","modified_gmt":"2016-03-23T17:09:30","slug":"peer-reviewing","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/tedb-old.byu.edu\/?page_id=4923","title":{"rendered":"Peer Reviewing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>LESSON 6 TITLE<\/p>\n<p>Peer Reviewing<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVE<\/p>\n<p>Students will demonstrate their understanding of peer reviewing by reviewing a classmate\u2019s short play.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>MATERIALS NEEDED<\/p>\n<p>\u201cArsenic and Old Lace\u201d script cutting \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/tedb-old.byu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Lesson-6.Arsenic-and-Old-Lace-Cutting.docx\">Lesson 6.Arsenic and Old Lace Cutting<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>HOOK<\/p>\n<p>Pass out the \u201cArsenic and Old Lace\u201d script cutting but don\u2019t tell anyone that they are from a famous play.\u00a0 Some students may recognize the play but others may not.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>INDIVIDUAL PRACTICE<\/p>\n<p>Tell the students to read through the script and \u2018peer review\u2019 it.\u00a0 Within the script, they must make at least three notes and at the end of the script, they need to write two things that they like about it and one thing that they would improve\/change about it. Give them time to do so.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>DISCUSSION<\/p>\n<p>Reveal to the students that this is \u2018Arsenic and Old Lace\u201d by Joseph Kesselring, a very famous play and playwright.\u00a0 Discuss that this play is super famous but you were all able to still find things to change\/improve about it.\u00a0 It is <strong>ALL <\/strong>up to the playwright whether or not they want to take the edits and reviews into consideration.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>GUIDED PRACTICE<\/p>\n<p>Students will now switch their rough drafts with another student.
