{"id":4630,"date":"2016-02-18T16:37:55","date_gmt":"2016-02-18T16:37:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tedb-old.byu.edu\/?page_id=4630"},"modified":"2016-02-18T16:37:55","modified_gmt":"2016-02-18T16:37:55","slug":"final-assessment-psa","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/tedb-old.byu.edu\/?page_id=4630","title":{"rendered":"Final Assessment &#8211; PSA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Day 8: Final Assessment &#8211; PSA<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Objective<\/strong>: Students will be able to demonstrate their understanding of Roman society, <em>The Manaechmi<\/em>, and PSA structure by performing in a PSA they wrote in groups using the dialogue in <em>The Manaechmi<\/em> and their own words as well.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Materials Needed<\/strong>: A computer that can hook up to the projector, any files emailed or shared with the teacher,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/tedb-old.byu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Day-8.Roman-PSA-Rubric.docx\">Day 8.Roman PSA Rubric<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hook<\/strong>: You\u2019re performing today! Do you think you can be ready with 15 minutes of rehearsal time?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Preparation:<\/strong> Give the students 15 minutes to prepare by rehearsing or making sure their technology is working.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Performance:<\/strong> After 15 minutes are up, bring the class back together<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ask for volunteer to go first<\/li>\n<li>Have each group perform and grade them based on the rubric, being sure to write comments at the bottom for each student<\/li>\n<li>After each group has performed, move on to discussion<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Discussion<\/strong>: What did you see?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What problems in Roman society were exposed and addressed?<\/li>\n<li>What was this whole experience like?<\/li>\n<li>Would you make a PSA again? Was it an effective mode of communication?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Quiz<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Now get out a piece of paper for a pop quiz!\n<ul>\n<li>Group them in 3s based on where they are sitting<\/li>\n<li>These are your groups for the quiz\n<ul>\n<li>Write down as many Portmanteau as you can come up with<\/li>\n<li>Then as many homophones as you can come up with<\/li>\n<li>Then as many words pertaining to Roman theatre as you can come up with<\/li>\n<li>Then list all of the stock characters you can remember<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Give them 20 minutes to do so<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>When 20 minutes is up, call for pencils down. Have one group read out their portmanteau and tell the class this is <em>Scattergories<\/em> style \u2013 if you have that word, say that you have it and both groups have to cross it out.
