{"id":4385,"date":"2016-02-05T20:30:06","date_gmt":"2016-02-05T20:30:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tedb-old.byu.edu\/?page_id=4385"},"modified":"2016-02-29T20:03:29","modified_gmt":"2016-02-29T20:03:29","slug":"day-4-read-everymanday-4-read-everyman-objective-students-will-be-able-to-demonstrate-their-understanding-of-morality-plays-by-reading-everyman-and-discussing-it-materials-needed-copies-of-ev","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/tedb-old.byu.edu\/?page_id=4385","title":{"rendered":"Day 4: Read Everyman"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Day 4: Read Everyman<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Objective: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Students will be able to demonstrate their understanding of Morality plays by reading <em>Everyman<\/em> and discussing it.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Materials Needed: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>copies of <em>Everyman<\/em>, small slips of paper<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hook: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Pass out two small pieces of paper to each student.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tell them to write down a way to read on their papers<\/li>\n<li>Come prepared with your own:\n<ul>\n<li>Speak every line as if you were frustrated<\/li>\n<li>Sean Connery (basically every S is now an SH)<\/li>\n<li>British accent<\/li>\n<li>Add \u201cOkay?\u201d to the end of every line<\/li>\n<li>Mispronounce at least one word in every line<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Put all of the slips together in a pile (or in a hat\/bowl)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Read Everyman<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ask for volunteers for all of the roles in <em>Everyman<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>Start reading the play \u2013 before each character speaks for the first time, have them take a slip of paper and read their lines in that manner. When Everyman gets bored of his, he can change to a new one every so often.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>After each new character has left, discuss the plot.
