Students will demonstrate understanding of the role of the set designer, his\/her responsibilities, and the importance of the set designer to the production team by creating a set design for their chosen scene from Midsummer Night\u2019s Dream.<\/p>\n

Materials Needed<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Copies of unit test<\/p>\n

Copies of Production Book grading sheet<\/p>\n

Extra handouts from unit lessons<\/p>\n

Supplies that may help the students be more creative in completing their portfolios:\u00a0card board, regular paper, colored pencils, scissors, glue, colored paper, etc<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Lesson Directions<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Anticipatory Set\/Hook<\/strong><\/p>\n

Have a supply table set up at the front of the classroom.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Instruction<\/strong><\/p>\n

The students will utilize today\u2019s class period to complete the portfolio section about the Set Designer<\/em><\/p>\n

Step 1<\/strong>\u2014Explain to the students that they have the entire period to work on their Set Design section of their Production Book.\u00a0<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Explain the Expectations and Consequences of this work day:<\/p>\n

Expectations:\u00a0<\/strong>Students are expected to use the time wisely.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Students will do their own work.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Participation points determined by how much is accomplish during the period.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Step 2\u2014<\/strong>Have the students bring out their Portfolio Requirements List for Set Designer so students know what they need to work on.<\/p>\n

Step 3\u2014<\/strong>Continually monitor the students throughout the class period.\u00a0\u00a0Maintain close proximity with students by walking around the room, checking students\u2019 work which includes creating their play bill.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Step 4\u2014<\/strong>Keep the students apprised of the time.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Step 5\u2014<\/strong>\u00a0Ask students if they need any help.\u00a0<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Step 6<\/strong>\u2014Have students wind up their projects and clean up a few minutes before the bell rings.<\/p>\n
