Directions<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><strong>Anticipatory Set\/Hook<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After taking roll, inform the students to gather their books, backpacks, etc. because class will not be held in the regular classroom.\u00a0\u00a0Have the students follow your to the computer but let them wonder where they are going and why.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Instruction<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 1\u2014<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Directions:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Upon arriving at the computer lab, select a specific area of computers to have students sit.\u00a0\u00a0Then, have them choose a computer so the students are not spread throughout the lab.\u00a0\u00a0(This will enable you to conduct discussions and interact with students easily.)\u00a0\u00a0Have students log on to the computer with their own school usernames and passwords.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 2<\/strong>\u2014<strong>Transition:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>When every student is logged on, instruct the students to go to google.com.\u00a0\u00a0Then, tell them that they must take a spelling test.\u00a0\u00a0They will automatically know if they have spelled it correctly if google brings up any information.\u00a0\u00a0The word they must type into the search box is \u201cdramaturg.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ask:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>How did you spell the word?<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Did you spell it correctly?<\/p>\n<p><strong>NOTE:<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0Dramaturg can be spelled d-r-a-m-a-t-u-r-g OR\u00a0\u00a0d-r-a-m-a-t-u-r-g-e (pronounced\u00a0<em>dramatrguh<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ask:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Why do you think there are two different spellings for this word?\u00a0\u00a0(dramaturge is the British spelling)<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Why do you think that is important?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Explain:<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0The British definitions and responsibilities differ from the American definitions and responsibilities.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 3\u2014<\/strong>Distribute the dramaturg handouts.\u00a0\u00a0Inform the students that they must research at least three (3) sites and notate what they learn about\u00a0<strong><u>American dramaturgs<\/u><\/strong>\u00a0on their worksheet.\u00a0\u00a0Have them answer the first question only:<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0What is a dramaturg?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Give them approximately five (5) minutes to complete this exercise.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 4\u2014Discussion:<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0Have the students each share at least one (1) thing they learned about dramaturgs.\u00a0\u00a0Then,\u00a0<strong>Ask:<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0Is there anything else that you discovered about dramaturgs (responsibilities\/traits, abilities)?\u00a0\u00a0<em>(let\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0students share whatever they
