{"id":287,"date":"2015-02-04T20:04:06","date_gmt":"2015-02-04T20:04:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tedb-wp.byu.edu\/?page_id=287"},"modified":"2015-05-19T22:44:07","modified_gmt":"2015-05-19T22:44:07","slug":"lesson-8-performances","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/tedb-old.byu.edu\/?page_id=287","title":{"rendered":"Lesson 8\u2014Performances"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>Objective:<\/h4>\n<p>Students will demonstrate their mastery of the Shakespearean language techniques of vocal levels, punctuation, word coloring, and rhythm by performing their polished monologues.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Materials Needed:<\/h4>\n<p> &#8211; final performance rubrics\u2014hard copy for each student<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5>Warm-up: (5 minutes)<\/h5>\n<p> Run around the room for 30 seconds: go!<br \/> 25 jumping jacks<br \/> Have students stand in a circle.<br \/> Start with vocal levels\u2014have students count up 1 to 10 matching the vocal volume with the number they are saying.<br \/> Punctuation\u2014Shout out a punctuation mark and have students gut reaction respond pahysically and vocally without using real words to the stated punctuation.<br \/> Word coloring\u2014Say a word\u2014father. Color it gritty, high, and fast<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5>Performances: (Rest of class)<\/h5>\n<p> Remember to be courteous to others in the class. Start with your 60 second synopsis. I will cut you off at 60 seconds if you are not finished. Then slate your name, play, and character. Then you may begin.
