{"id":1013,"date":"2015-02-24T19:15:10","date_gmt":"2015-02-24T19:15:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tedb-wp.byu.edu\/?page_id=1013"},"modified":"2015-02-24T19:15:10","modified_gmt":"2015-02-24T19:15:10","slug":"lesson-5-review-of-stage-directions-types-and-parts-of-the-stage-environment","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/tedb-old.byu.edu\/?page_id=1013","title":{"rendered":"Lesson 5: Review of Stage Directions, Types and Parts of the Stage Environment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Lesson 5: Review of Stage Directions, Types and Parts of the Stage Environment<\/p>\n<p>Lesson Objective: Students will review stage directions, types and stage environment by participating in a series of review activities.<\/p>\n<p>Materials:<br \/>\n\u2022 Stage Types worksheet \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/tedb-old.byu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/Lesson-5.Stage-Types-Sheet.docx\">Lesson 5.Stage Types Sheet<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Step 1: Warm Up\u2014Exaggerated sound and movement circle<br \/>\nIt\u2019s like sound and movement telephone, except you try to make the sound\/movement just a tiny bit more exaggerated than the person in front of you.<\/p>\n<p>Step 2: Review Stage Types<br \/>\n\u2022 In their groups, have the students brain storm as many of the names of the different stage types (arena stage, proscenium stage, thrust stage, end stage) as they can come up with.<br \/>\n\u2022 Ask for the names of the four types, write them on the board.<br \/>\n\u2022 Next, see if they can come up with where the audience sits on each of these stage types.<br \/>\n\u2022 Draw the stage Types on the board and where the audience goes.<\/p>\n<p>Step 3: Stage Types Worksheet<br \/>\n\u2022 Give them the stage types worksheet. Tell them they\u2019re going to try doing this all by themselves first.<br \/>\n\u2022 Give them a chance to talk to their groups<br \/>\n\u2022 Go over the sheet as a class<br \/>\n\u2022 Tell them to keep this until walkaway day to use it to study and then they\u2019ll turn it in with their walkaway<\/p>\n<p>Step 4: Review Stage Directions<br \/>\n\u2022 Draw the stage directions diagram on the board. And write the directions on the board next to it. Whose perspective are stage directions from?<br \/>\n\u2022 Tell the students to get out a piece of paper and try to fill out the diagram by themselves.<br \/>\n\u2022 As a group, compare answers.<br \/>\n\u2022 As a class, fill in the diagram on the board.<\/p>\n<p>Step 5: Review of it all Relay<br \/>\n\u2022 Split the class into 3 team (right, center and left)<br \/>\n\u2022 Each team has a different color of marker. A team member will line up behind the first tape line on the floor in front of the desks.
